It is reported that the driver of the three-wheeler has lost his life in an accident where a luxury jeep collided with a three-wheeler in the Vijaya Raja Dahana area on the Pasyala-Giriulla road.
A 40-year-old father of one, a conductor by profession, residing in Polonnaruwa, Mirigama, has lost his life.
While turning right, the three wheeler coming from Pasyala collided with the jeep coming from Mirigama and the seriously injured three wheeler driver died while being admitted to the Mirigama hospital.
Preliminary investigations have revealed that the jeep that was involved in the accident belonged to a person from Homagama area, who was traveling to Anuradhapura with the name of a temple in Bulathsinhala area and was bringing a casket.
The police say that after the accident, the driver fled in the presence of the monk who was traveling there, and that the monk failed to provide correct information about the driver.
The police have said that the driver will be identified and arrested through the owner of the vehicle.
