It is reported that yesterday (27th) a young woman who was coming home after work was assaulted by a man who was guarding her way in Arauvala, Samagi Mawatha, Pelanawatta area and the young woman was injured in the incident.
It is said that the suspect assaulted the girl when she was returning home from work, and the entire incident including how she ran away from the suspect was recorded on a nearby CCTV camera.
It is reported that the suspect involved in this attack was heavily addicted to drugs and the attack was carried out due to a dispute with the injured girl’s father. He has been transferred to Colombo National Hospital for treatment.
It is reported that the suspect was arrested by the Piliyandala police while he was standing on a telephone signal tower after the incident.
A 19-year-old girl was injured in the attack and the suspect is a 40-year-old man.
