President Ranil Wickramasinghe instructed the District Secretaries of Anuradhapura and Polonnaruwa to make all necessary arrangements to hold the Poson Festival in a grand manner.
In the meantime, President Ranil Wickremesinghe also instructed the President’s Secretary Mr. Saman Ekanayake to look into the countrywide Poson Festival activities and provide direct intervention from the President’s Office to make the meritorious activities successful.
President Ranil Wickramasinghe has mentioned that the main devotions are organized based on the Anuradhapura Mihintala shrine, and the policies and Amisa poojas held at Anuradhapura and Polonnaruwa historical shrines are to be investigated and reported.
President Ranil Wickramasinghe has instructed the officials that the Vesak festival was held successfully with the intervention of the state and the Poson festival should also be held in addition to it.
The instructions given by the President to the officers stated that the Poson Poho day, when Mahindagamana took place, marking a new turning point in Sri Lankan civilization, is an important day for the Buddhists as well as for the entire Sri Lankan nation.
President Ranil Wickramasinghe has mentioned that the main religious festivals will provide a powerful platform to build the mindset of all Sri Lankans as a proud nation and also to carry the country’s identity to the international community at a time when the country is starting to stand on its feet again after facing a huge crisis.
After four years, the President has also paid his respects to all the public and private institutions that contributed to the successful conduct of the Vesak festival.
