Another fire – 20 estate houses completely destroyed.
It is reported that about 20 estate houses have been completely destroyed by a fire that broke out today (05) at around 10 am in a row of estates in the lower division estate belonging to Ragala police domain, Nuwara Eliya. At the time of the fire, the residents of those houses had left for their jobs.
It is reported that the police suspect that the fire may have been caused by an electrical leak in the electrical lines due to the heavy rains and strong winds in the district.
It is stated that the estate authorities have directed those who lost their homes due to the fire to public places, and the district disaster management unit and the district secretary are working to provide them with all the necessary facilities like food and drink.
