It is reported that the Pandukaranda tree (Crudia celanica), which was found in Daralwa area and was secretly cut and buried according to a cabinet paper presented by Minister Bandula Gunawardena, was exhumed yesterday (28) in the presence of Gampaha Acting Magistrate Indrani Attanayake.
Later, it has been arranged to be planted in the Gampaha Henarathgoda Botanical Garden and the Gampaha Additional Magistrate has inquired about the continuation of this case. The additional district forest officer of Gampaha has said that he will proceed with the case after taking the advice of the forest conservation general.
It is said that Gampaha Acting Magistrate Indrani Attanayake went to the place where the tree was uprooted and after ordering the tree to be recovered, the backhoe was used and the tree was recovered.
It is reported that it was then taken to the Gampaha Henarathgoda Botanical Garden by a big tipper and replanted under the observation of the director of the botanical garden at around 4.30 pm.
