It is reported that the Gampaha Additional Magistrate yesterday (21) ordered the police to immediately provide security to the area where the Crudia celanica plant is said to have been buried in the Gampaha-Daraluwa area and it is reported that the Gampaha District Forest Officer has also been ordered to identify the place and take steps to recover the tree.
The Gampaha District Forest Office has previously reported to the court through a “B” report that the tree has been cut down and the District Forest Officer has informed the court that if the tree is recovered, the District Forest Office does not have the necessary resources.
It is also stated that the Additional Magistrate has directed the District Officer to implement the orders immediately without being passive.
Minister Bandula Gunawardena presented and passed a proposal to cut this branch to the cabinet, and the tree was cut within a few hours after the proposal was passed.
