Gemunu Wijeratne, President of the Private Bus Owners Association, is reported to have said that if the private bus owners association does not agree to the conditions presented to the transport authorities, then the bus fare will be increased by ten percent in another two weeks due to the increase in fuel prices.
He mentioned this during a press conference held yesterday (01).
He emphasized that the private bus industry is dying day by day, but since the transport authorities have not taken any measures for their industry, strict measures will have to be taken at this moment and if such fare revision is done, the minimum bus fare will be 35 rupees.
Earlier, when the fuel price was revised, the industry was running at a loss without increasing bus fares, but he said that it is no longer possible to operate within the framework of the national policy. After doing so, if prompt solutions are not provided, it will be forced or there will be a fee revision.
