It is reported that the Colombo-Badulla main roads, which were blocked due to the collapse of a mound of earth, have now been restored.
It is said that the road was reopened today (10) at around 1 am.
The road was blocked due to the fall of a large tree along with a mound of earth on the main road between Haputale – Beragala at Viharakele area yesterday (09) at around 8 pm. As a result, even the high power lines were damaged and the road was blocked for about 4 hours.
Later, Road Development Authority, Electricity Board, Haldummulla and Haputale Police worked together to restore the road.
This area of the Haputale-Beragala road is a very steep road, and it is reported that the road is closed due to heavy fog.
But Haputale Police has informed the drivers to be careful while driving on the Haputale-Beragala road as there is a risk of mounds collapsing on the road.
