It is reported that a woman was beaten to death with a sharp weapon in Weliara, Netholpitiya area of Tangalle police domain this morning (27).
The police media division has announced that the deceased is a 30-year-old woman named RM Deepika, who worked as an agricultural research officer in the same area.
Jayawardena Pathiranage Sarath alias ‘Danny Baby’, a 41-year-old resident of the same area, was attacked with a sharp weapon while she was on her way to work this morning.
‘Danny Baby’ has been arrested in connection with the murder and the Tangalle Magistrate has conducted a magisterial investigation into the incident and the body has been deposited in the Tangalle Hospital for post-mortem examination.
