It is reported that the cup planting of the annual Esala Maha Perahara Mangala organized by the historic Sri Sankhapala Rajamaha Temple will be done yesterday (15) morning.
Accordingly, the ceremony of planting the cup was done with the participation of a group of contributors from Satara Poruva including the viharadhipati and the start of the procession has been scheduled for the 25th of this month. The thirty-hour procession will begin on September 25 and the first Kumbal Perahera is scheduled to take place on the 27th.
The last grand procession is scheduled to visit Vithi on the first day of October and this year’s Perahera festival is scheduled to end after the morning offering of Deva on the third day of October.
