It is reported that the Ministry of Agriculture has decided to provide 17,000 rupees worth of diesel to the farmers whose crops were damaged in the last yala season to carry out their cultivation activities in the mas season.
The Ministry of Agriculture has stated that the relief given is in addition to the subsidy of 15,000 rupees given by the government for the purchase of fertilizers and the compensation of one lakh rupees per hectare.
It is said that a discussion was held on the relief to be given to the farmers who suffered crop damage under the chairmanship of the Minister of Agriculture and Plantation Industries, Mr. Mahinda Amaraweera, where this decision was taken.
Accordingly, 40 liters of diesel will be distributed to each farmer in the next two days.
