Today (07) in Parliament, Transport Minister Mr. Lasantha Alagiyawanna stated that he hopes to start a program this week to provide drivers’ licenses to those suffering from hearing disabilities all over the island.
He further commented and stated:
“A regulatory project was implemented for 50 people and its time ended this week. Those 50 people had driven vehicles very successfully. No accidents have occurred. Based on its success, the whole of Sri Lanka will be given that driver’s license…. The program for giving deaf people this week. Starting from.”
“Also, there was a limit that the medical report should be obtained every two years for war heroes who have lost their legs who have driver’s licenses. Now we will extend it to the limit of 4 and 8 years…”
