It is reported that a stock of explosives and digging equipment was found in a car that fled despite police orders yesterday (18) and a suspect was arrested.
Yesterday (18th) at around 8.30 pm, a car that was driving from Kandy towards Kurunegala was ordered to stop by the officers on duty, but it was driven despite the police order. The officers who were on duty chased the car in question and managed to stop it in Mawathagama town. When he went to arrest the driver of the car, he protested and two others who were in the car got out and ran away. Then, the driver of the car was arrested and taken to the police station. During the inspection of the car, the stock of explosives and drilling equipment were found.
Gelignite stick, 9 detonators, 2 electric sprinklers, 1 kg of ammonia, electric stone thrower, 3 cleavers, sword, knife, 2 spades, 2 hoes, 3 hammer stone throwers, electric feet were found in the car. It is said that 3 pieces of wire about 100 meters long were found.
The suspect driver is a resident of Dambadeniya, Sirigala and the police have stated that investigations are underway to find the other suspects who fled.
