Police say that they will start a special program to identify drivers who commit traffic offenses in the Colombo area through CCTV cameras from today (22).
Accordingly, it is said that it will be implemented as a pilot project in the vicinity of Colombo city from today until the 31st.
Police Media Spokesman Senior Superintendent of Police Advocate Nihal Talduwa has mentioned that legal action will be taken against the drivers who break the traffic rules.
“This is starting as a pilot project. This is monitored through the CCTV camera system monitored by the police in Colombo city to see who are the drivers committing traffic violations. If any mistake is made, we will inform the owner of the vehicle. This is being done as a pilot project during this period until January 31. After January 31, fines will be issued.”
