It is reported that the Airport Authority has stated that people are requested to refrain from flying kites in the areas near Ratmalana, Katunayake and Mattala Airports as they may cause accidents to airplanes.
Also, the control authority has further stated that mobile vehicles have been deployed to inform the local residents, and according to the aviation law, it is prohibited to fly kites and fly drones at 300 feet or higher in the sky within five kilometers of an airport. The Tangus string is also a threat to aircraft.
