It is reported that the Udugama Magistrate’s Court has imposed a fine of one crore thirty two lakh rupees on three Iranian nationals who collected plant and animal parts in Sinharaja Forest.
The magistrate has ordered to impose a fine of 44 lakh rupees on each of the accused.
The three Iranian nationals were recently arrested in Neluwa Lankagama area while they were collecting plant and animal parts in the Sinharaja forest.
It is said that these suspects were arrested by a group of officers from Neluwa site of the Forest Conservation Department and presented to the court.
