It is reported that the Supreme Court today ordered the hearing on the 12th of the petitions submitted by Ministers Harin Fernando and Manusha Nanayakkara requesting to issue an order annulling the decision taken by Samagi Jana Balawega to revoke their party membership.
President’s lawyer Mr. Ronald Perera, who appeared for the petitioner, stated before the court that the filing of counter-objections related to the petition should be adjourned.
The lawyers who appeared for the respondent stated that according to the constitution, the Supreme Court should complete the hearing of the petitions within two months from the date of filing of these petitions.
Accordingly, the three-judge bench of the Supreme Court ordered the lawyers of the petitioners to file any objections related to these petitions within today (10).
