It is reported that a grandson assaulted his grandmother in Polpithigama, Iriminnagama area yesterday morning (26) and the grandmother, who was in a serious condition due to the assault, died after being taken to the hospital.
The suspect’s grandson attacked the grandmother and stole one hundred thousand rupees from her cupboard and ran away. It is said that the grandmother, who was in a serious condition after being beaten, was admitted to Polpithigama Hospital and then later admitted to Kurunegala Hospital for further treatment.
A 78-year-old woman has lost her life and the suspect involved in the incident is a 28-year-old man. He has fled the area and it is reported that the body of the woman has been deposited in the Kurunegala Hospital for post-mortem examination.
