It is reported that an accident occurred when a bus and a car collided with each other this morning (04) in the Palwehera area of the Dambulla-Habarana main road.
The mother, father and male child of the same French family who were traveling in the car as well as Meheninu who was traveling in the bus were injured and admitted to Dambulla Hospital.
A private bus traveling from Trincomalee to Colombo and a car carrying foreigners traveling from Dambulla to Sigiriya were involved in the accident.
The people who witnessed the accident say that the bus was traveling at high speed and when it was trying to overtake another vehicle, it collided with the car that came in front.
Due to the accident, traffic on the main road was disrupted and the bus was stopped across the road.
The car crashed into a small shop nearby and was badly damaged.
The driver of the bus has surrendered to the police and several passengers in the bus have sustained minor injuries, the police said.
Dambulla Police is conducting further investigations regarding the accident.
