It is reported that the Minister of Justice Wijedasa Rajapaksa stated that the Parliamentary Selection Committee has recommended that the GOC General Examination should be held in the 10th grade and the GOC Advanced Examination in the 12th grade.
It is stated that the report of the Parliamentary Special Committee for making appropriate recommendations to expand higher education opportunities in Sri Lanka has been released as such.
The chairman of the committee, Justice Minister Wijedasa Rajapaksa, had presented the relevant report to Parliament yesterday (21) and a discussion was also held yesterday (21) to present the recommendations contained in the report.
The Minister has further stated that the Special Parliamentary Select Committee appointed for the development of higher education has recommended the establishment of an independent Higher Education Commission instead of the University Grants Commission and the Vocational Training Authority.
