It is reported that there has been a 40 percent increase in the number of patients who came to receive treatment from the out-patient department of Sri Lankan hospitals during the period of nine months.
The minister disclosed this while addressing a press conference held yesterday (02) at the Ministry of Health.
This has been revealed in a survey of Kandy National Hospital, Peradeniya Teaching Hospital, Peradeniya Children’s Hospital, Nawalapitiya Primary Hospital and Gampola Primary Hospital in Kandy district.
The minister has also stated that an increase of about forty-two percent in the number of patients coming to the outpatient department, as well as a figure of about forty percent in the entire country can be recorded.
He also said that admissions to hospitals have increased by approximately twenty-five to twenty-seven percent.
