It is reported that the issuance of more than 8 lakh driving license cards has been delayed for months, due to which the period of temporary driving licenses issued from the 19th of this month had to be extended to two years.
The main reason for this problem is that the capacity of the driving license printing machines owned by the Department of Motor Vehicles is not enough, the department has stated.
Also, the purchase of new machines will cost around 20 crore rupees, and there is not enough money to cover the cost, therefore, the Cabinet approves to get card printers from the company in charge of the computer system of the motor vehicle department and print cards on the agreement of payment. The department has further mentioned that it is expected.
