It is reported that Dodangoda ‘Puskota’ and Golaya, who terrorized Kalutara, have been arrested.
The Kalutara South Police said that the two suspects, who had carried out several robberies with two manna knives at several places in Kalutara area, were arrested.
In a period of about an hour, the suspects beat a simpat dealer’s leg with a manna and robbed him of simpats, mobile phones and cash worth more than 150,000 rupees in Panadura town, broke into the ATM booth of a private bank in Bandaragama, hit a person with manna 05 times and robbed him of 150,000 rupees and scared a pumper at Gonaduwa petrol station. The suspects had fled.
The police also say that a 27-year-old resident of Dodangoda area known as Dodangoda ‘Puskota’ and his 18-year-old disciple have been arrested.
The arrested main suspect has been revealed to be a former soldier of the Gajaba Regiment of the Army.
When the two suspects were arrested, ice and heroin drugs were found in their possession.
During the lengthy questioning of the suspects, the two manna knives used to commit the crimes and the motorcycle stolen from Bandaragama were found.
The police officers who joined the raid said that a live grenade manufactured in a foreign country was found in the possession of the suspected ex-army soldier.
It is said that the suspects will be produced before the Kalutara Magistrate’s Court and detention orders will be obtained.
