It is reported that about 30 shops have been completely destroyed in a fire that broke out in front of the main bus station in Mawanella town last night (28).
The police immediately intervened, together with the Mawanella local council’s fire fighting unit and local residents, put the fire under control.
But the fire has destroyed many shops selling fruits, textiles and plastic goods.
The cause of the fire has not yet been revealed and the Mawanella Police are conducting further investigations.
