Today (01) at around 1 pm, due to an earthquake with a magnitude of 5.4 in the Indian Ocean, a slight earthquake has been reported in several parts of the island.
This earthquake occurred at a distance of about 1260 km from the coast in the south-east of Sri Lanka and it is said that it originated at a depth of about 10 km inside the earth.
Several areas around Galle, Neluwa, Akuressa, Kalutara, Panadura and Colombo have experienced this minor earthquake.
But the Department of Meteorology has stated that there is no danger of tsunami.
