It is reported that some person or group robbed the money from the Dambulla main Samurdhi Bank branch last night (24th).
The police said that these robbers entered the building by breaking a main door, and when the cleaning maid came for her duties this morning (25), she saw the back door of the building open and informed the higher officials about it.
Later, when they came and checked, it has been observed that the safe containing the bank’s money and a window at the back of the building had been cut with an iron wire machine.
The police investigation has revealed that the safe containing the money was cut open with the help of a machine that was used to get electricity from the building itself and it is said that the amount of money in the safe has not been calculated so far.
Dambulla Police is carrying out further investigations regarding the incident.
