It is reported that two officials of the Department of Health Products and an official of the State Commercial Miscellaneous Statutory Corporation have left for India to inspect poultry farms in India with the aim of further expanding the import of eggs from India.
At present, the import of eggs to Sri Lanka from three chicken farms in India is limited and due to insufficient quantity, this group has left for India to inspect some new farms.
Also, this group of officials is scheduled to return to the island next Sunday after inspecting several chicken farms located in Chennai, India. It is reported that they are planning to import about one million eggs to Sri Lanka daily.
