It is reported that Cabinet approval has been granted to Lanka Tobacco Company Limited for a cultivation project which is a part of the land called Maduwanwela Nedagama estate on lease basis.
This Maduwanwela Nedagama estate is a land owned by the Land Reform Commission in Panamura Grama Niladhari Domain of Embilipitiya Divisional Secretariat of Ratnapura District and this decision has been taken after evaluating the relevant project report submitted by Ceylon Tobacco Company.
Accordingly, the Cabinet has approved the proposal presented by the Minister of Tourism and Lands to provide a portion of 87 acres, 3 roods and 25 perches of the Maduwanwela Nedagama estate on a long-term lease basis for a period of 30 years for this forestry project.
