It is reported that the Ministry of Ports has planned to restore the dilapidated Thalaimannaram jetty and develop it as a port to provide facilities for passenger and tourist vessels coming from Rameswaram.
While the restoration works of the jetty are being carried out by the Port Authority
It is said that an amount of 1800 million rupees has been estimated for that.
Also, to improve the infrastructure of the port, it has been decided to acquire 10 acres of land owned by the government and under this, it has been planned to improve the infrastructure including a modern passenger terminal and a warehouse complex.
It has been decided to invite bids from local and foreign investors for Thalaimannaram development projects under public-private partnership, and the Indian government’s approval for passenger ferry service between Thalaimannaram and Rameswaram in India will be received soon.
