It is reported that a police sergeant was arrested for allegedly sexually assaulting a 20-year-old girl at her home.
It is said that this sergeant is a relative of the girl in question and police sources say that the sergeant entered the house and sexually assaulted her when the girl was alone in her house.
In this regard, a complaint has been submitted by the concerned young woman and the relevant police sergeant has been arrested on suspicion.
This sergeant is attached to the Police Narcotics Bureau and has temporarily worked in Nikaveratiya Division’s Criminal Investigation Division since 2021, and a disciplinary investigation has also been initiated against him.
Rasnayaka Police is also conducting further investigations regarding the incident.
