It is reported that in a discussion chaired by the Minister of Agriculture, the industrialists have agreed to reduce the price of a kilogram of chicken meat by 100 rupees in order to give the consumer the benefit of lowering the maize import tax from 75 rupees to 25 rupees per kilogram by the government.
Also, it is said that the relevant industrialists have expressed their agreement to give the same advantage to the consumers in cases where the value of the rupee increases relative to the dollar.
Commenting on this, the Minister of Agriculture has stated that the annual per capita consumption of chicken meat in this country has increased to 11 kg, and the annual per capita consumption of eggs has increased to 138 kg.
