It is reported that Minister of Education Dr. Susil Premajayantha announced that pre-childhood education will be made compulsory for all children who reach the age of 4 years while participating in a program held recently at ‘Water’s Edge’ in Battaramulla for the launch of the ‘Healthy Life is Happy’ school health promotion month.
The minister who commented further,
“The government is intervening for children who cannot pay for early childhood education. It is possible to hold early childhood development centers in primary schools where space is available. It should also be noted that schools that are facing the challenge of closure are also able to be used for this purpose. Transformative The most fundamental step in making education reforms successful is the formal pre-childhood development of the children in Sri Lanka. In order to standardize pre-school education parallel to the international level, the attitude that ‘pre-school is another school before going to school’ needs to be completely changed.”
