Trade Minister Mr. Naleen Fernando said that the President has decided to give the opportunity to import chicken meat required for industries from abroad.
It is reported that he made the announcement at a press conference held in Colombo.
The minister has stated that this decision was taken during a special discussion on the cost of living chaired by the President on the 27th and that the government has taken this decision to reduce the suffering of the people due to the high prices in the chicken meat market.
Also, the minister has further stated that if the market price is not controlled by the importation of chicken meat, he will also take steps to import chicken meat for consumption in the future.
