Trade Minister Naleen Fernando stated that the price of essential goods will further decrease during the festive season and he said that even if the importers are at a disadvantage, the benefit should be given to the public.
“At this time, the importers have suffered losses. Same goes for businessmen. Therefore, the importers reduce the price for the goods to come and give that relief. Therefore, we think that the prices during the festive season will decrease in these few weeks and consumers will be able to get essential goods at a lower price.”
