PUBLIC UTILITIES COMMISSION CHAIRMAN JANAKA RATNAYAKE IS GOING TO BE REMOVED.
According to sources, the preliminary work related to the removal of the chairman of the Public Utility Commission, Mr. Janaka Ratnayake from his position, is currently in doubt. It is stated that charge sheets have been prepared against the chairman and necessary steps are being taken to remove him through the parliamentary process.
Mr. Janaka Rathnayake, who continued to accuse the Minister-led government of taking steps to revise the electricity tariffs in violation of the Electricity Board Act and the Public Utilities Commission Act, strongly criticized the informality of the tariff revision. Due to this, the displeasure of the government was directed at this chairman and the Minister of Power and Energy Kanchana Wijesekera recently stated that necessary steps are being taken to remove him from office.
Mr. Janaka Ratnayake, who gave an answer to an inquiry about this, confirmed that there is an arrangement for his removal and has already sent an explanation to the Minister of Finance and the Economic Stabilization Committee, denying all the allegations against him. (Lanka Sara)
