At the 14th meeting of the European Union on the Comprehensive Nuclear Test Ban Treaty (CTBT) held in New York, Mr. Ali Sabri, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, said that Sri Lanka approves the Comprehensive Nuclear Test Ban Treaty (CTBT) and is committed to nuclear disarmament and limiting nuclear weapons. It is reported that the announcement was made while joining a press conference called as part of the article’s conference.
There, the Minister of Foreign Affairs Mr. Ali Sabri stated that Sri Lanka officially ratified the Comprehensive Nuclear Test Ban Treaty last July, which is in line with the country’s long-standing and consistent policy of limiting nuclear weapons.
Also, in October 1996, Sri Lanka became the 13th among the first countries to sign the Comprehensive Nuclear Test Ban Treaty (CTBT), which is a remarkable fact. The minister further stated that it has been established.
It is reported that the commitment of Mr. Floyd, the Executive Director of the Nuclear Test Ban Treaty Organization (CTBTO) and the team to promote and enforce the convention, was also appreciated by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Ali Sabri.
