It is reported that many old ruins have emerged in the Iginimitiya Reservoir after about 10 years with the water level dropping rapidly due to the ongoing drought.
The Iginimitiya Reservoir is located on the border of both Puttalam and Kurunegala Districts and is bordered by the Divisional Secretariat Office of Navaghattagama, Kotavehera, Ambanpola and Galgamuwa. Iginimitiya Regional Irrigation Engineer Mr. Samira Priyankara has mentioned that the water level in the Iginimitiya Reservoir, which has a water capacity of 58800 acre feet, has dropped to 8900 acre feet.
