It is reported that a single tusk elephant roaming around the National Namal Park has been shot.
In this way, the ‘Eka Danta’ elephants whose homeland is Kalawewa National Park have been attacked.
According to a notification made by the officials of the Galkiriagama Wildlife Site Security Office regarding the elephant, a group of officials from the Nikaveratiya Wildlife Veterinary Unit in the North West Wildlife Zone are working to treat the elephant and the wildlife officials stated that many gunshots aimed at the elephant can be seen all over the body of the elephant.
The wildlife officers suspect that some bullet marks are seen on the lower part of the elephant’s front left leg, and that they may have been caused by the firing of guns.
