It is reported that the All Ceylon Bakery Owners’ Association said that the price of a loaf of bread is expected to be reduced to 100 rupees.
Its chairman N. K. Mr. Jayawardena mentioned that the price of bakery products has increased due to various types of taxes and the value of the dollar.
And that the only hope of his association is to maintain the price of a piece of bread at 100 rupees or less.
In the future, we will negotiate with the government to provide a 450 gram loaf of bread for around 100 rupees, and if the government intervenes, it is possible to provide a loaf of bread for 100 rupees and reduce the price of a bun by 10 or 15 rupees.
