It is reported that after the introduction of the new forest policy, the Minister of Wildlife and Forestry Pavitra Vanniarachchi, while presenting the orders under the Forestry Ordinance Act, will be given the powers and tasks to act as forest officials.
The minister further stated that after the introduction of the new forest policy, this step will be taken to implement the relevant concepts, and that the powers of the officers will be assigned to the timber corporation officers as well as to the district governors, divisional secretaries, land officers and colony officers.
