It is reported that Hatton Superintendent of Police Dehigama stated that Polpitiya Police launched a raid on information that a group of people were trying to excavate a treasure in Rambukkanoya Leikiangedara area belonging to Polpitiya Police Domain and arrested six suspects along with a lot of equipment early this morning (22).
It is said that the police seized iron rods, a gas device, chemicals and other equipment from the possession of these suspects.
The arrested suspects are between 30-35 years old and are residents of Bingiriya, Aguruwella, Kurunegala and Nortonbridge.
The Polpitiya Police have announced that they will be presented to the Hatton Magistrate’s Court.
