It is reported that the 62 Sri Lankan domestic workers who stayed illegally in Kuwait without visa arrived at the Katunayake Airport early today (28) after being deported.
It is said that they arrived today (28) at 5:00 am from Kuwait on Al Jazeera flight J-9555.
These people have fled from the contracted houses and stayed in temporary hostels in the State of Kuwait and have been looking for different jobs. It is reported that they have been staying illegally without a visa. In this regard, together with the country’s security forces and the judiciary, temporary flight permits have been prepared for them through the Embassy of Sri Lanka and they have been sent away from the country.
It is also reported that more than 2000 domestic workers are registered at the Sri Lanka Embassy in Kuwait to come to Sri Lanka.
