It is reported that Mr. Chaturanga Ranasinghe, professor of exercise and sports medicine, has said that it is a mistake to say that sweating must happen during exercise.
In a discussion held yesterday (18) regarding exercise and sports in the Sri Lanka Medical Association, the professor clarified this and said that exercise should be done systematically and step by step.
The professor said that excessive sweating does not occur during exercise in air-conditioned places and stated that it is very important to drink water before and after exercise.
Also, the professor has said that when starting exercise, exercise should be done at a low speed, and then different exercises should be done systematically step by step.
He stated that dehydration occurs in cases where this is not the case, and it is possible to recognize dehydration by the color of urine.
The professor has said here that it is important for a healthy person to exercise for about three hundred minutes daily and that young children should exercise for about sixty minutes.
