Police sources have reported that an apprentice police constable working at the Arachchikattuwa Police Station under the Halawatha Superintendent of Police Division has left a note in the police book today (25) saying that he was not given leave to attend to his sick mother at home.
It is stated that the concerned police constable recorded in the police book that although he asked for leave to visit his sick mother, he was not in a mental state to continue his duties due to the fact that the leave was not approved.
Police sources further stated that although he had been on duty for 60 days without taking leave, the apprentice police constable was heartbroken because he was not approved for leave to visit his ailing mother.
An apprentice police constable residing in Polonnaruwa area has gone off duty.
