According to a proposal presented by the Minister of Trade, Commerce and Food Safety Mr. Naleen Fernando, it is reported that the Cabinet of Ministers has given approval to give a draft law to prepare draft laws to validate the Bread Ordinance Act.
The Bread Ordinance No. 13 of 1864 was enacted to regulate the sale of bread and to prevent the mixing of spoiled flour with the bread offered for sale, but in the implementation of certain provisions of the Consumer Act, problems arose with certain provisions of the Bread Ordinance. Due to this, it has been found that it is not necessary to further implement the Act.
