Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa is reported to have said in Parliament today (10) that since the Sri Lankan Transport Board suddenly canceled the season tickets issued for the month of January, the school children are facing difficulties and will immediately request the relevant authorities to change the decision.
The Leader of the Opposition said this while making a statement at the beginning of the proceedings of the House.
The opposition leader said that the Langama General Manager has sent letters to the depot authorities to cancel the January season tickets of the children and said that the use of the season tickets on weekends has also been banned.
He said that even if schools are not held, children will have to attend private classes on weekends, and that it is the government’s responsibility to meet the transportation needs of children as the Aposa A-level examination is being held.
He also said that there will be a request to make the canceled season tickets valid again.
