It is reported that the person who died yesterday (16) in the Hatton Malliappua bus passenger shelter has been identified as a resident of Bagwantalawa Campion Estate.
Yesterday morning Hatton police officers started investigation on information that a person was found dead in Malliappua bus shelter on Hatton Colombo Kandy main road.
Accordingly, the dead body was taken to the Dik Oya Glankan District Base Hospital and further investigation by officers of the various complaints department of the Hatton Headquarters Police.
It is stated that it was possible to reveal the information of those who died during the investigation.
Accordingly, an officer of the Hatton police has stated that the deceased was identified as Ammawasi Rajendran, a 63-year-old resident of Bhagwantala Campion Estate, by the wife of the deceased, Singhaiya Mariai.
This person has been missing from his house for about a week and a complaint has been lodged with the Bagwantala Police.
The woman said.
The officer has further stated that steps have been taken to conduct the post-mortem examination of the deceased at the Dik Oya Glankan District Base Hospital.
On the advice of Hatton Superintendent of Police Mr. Nipuna Dehigama and the supervision of Hatton Headquarters Chief Police Inspector Mr. Ranjith Jayasena, a group of officers including Mr. Deputy Inspector Dasanayake, Deputy Inspector General of Police, Police Sergeant 45789 Asela, Station Commander of Various Complaints Division of Hatton Headquarters Police, have started further investigations in this regard.
