The last Randoli Perahera of this year’s historical Esala Perahera festival in Kandy was conducted last night (30th). A large number of people gathered from all over the island to witness the processions which consisted of many cultural dances including elephants.
Also, many local and foreign ambassadors including President Ranil Wickramasinghe were also present to watch the last Randoli procession.
The water-cutting ritual of the Esala Perahera festival is currently being performed at Gatambe Port of the Mahaweli River and after the water-cutting festival, the Sivmaha Dewala Perahera will come to Kandy’s Ghanadevi Temple and perform religious rites. After that, it is scheduled to gather for the afternoon parade today (31).
