It is reported that the first group of Vatukara, which participates in the annual Kataragama Esala Perahera, started their journey from Hatton area today (10).
Accordingly, it is stated that they are going to reach the Kataragama Pooja site by the 18th of this month by walking a distance of 240 kilometers through Hatton, Nuwara Eliya, Welimada, Bandarawela, Wellawaya, Lunugamwehera.
It is reported that they walk a distance of 20-25 kilometers a day and take rest at night in temples and Hindu temples in those areas and then start their journey again the next day.
