It is reported that the Railway Security Officers have found a bag containing property worth more than 50 lakh rupees, which was left behind in the Ruhunu Kumari train running from Matara to Colombo Fort and have taken steps to find and hand over it to its owners.
This bag belonging to Laksiri Sampath, a resident of Kandy, Katugastota, Guhagoda and his wife Hiruni Nimasha had been forgotten in the train. Hiruni’s village is Matara, Palatuwa, Atthudawa and she had returned to Kandy with her husband from Kandy to her home in the Ruhunu Kumari train.
The wife’s mother and father had also participated in this trip and some of their travel bags were kept under the seat where they were sitting in the train. This group forgot to take the relevant bag while coming down from the fort. In checking the Ruhunu Kumari train that arrived at the fort before putting it in the Maligawatta yard, Matara Railway Security Officer’s office security 91216 A.K. It is said that Lankananda and 91272 LD Priyankara found this bag and handed it over to Maligawatta railway security office.
In the bag in question, there were many properties including a gold necklace worth 3 pounds, a bracelet, an Apple iPhone worth 1 lakh rupees, a savings certificate of 35 lakh rupees, bank books, car keys and identity cards.
